From Diverse Families To Inclusive Learning Experiences About All Families
Hello everyone this is the link to my interview, please feel free to go check it out. https://youtu.be/oRo3sLAK4o0 For this next assignment I've been task with the job of creating an interview protocol for a panel of 3 to 5 family and/or community experts on the topic of my choice. The importance of this assignment as it relates to our class content because one will include family member in ones panel. In doing so family members are viewed as highly valued educational partners. After conducting my panel and reviewing the interview the title of this project had to be changed. One thing I would change is the location the interview was held. Another thing I would change is adding another panelist that had a completely different view from the other panelist, in order to see how the conversation would change and it would also increase dialogue among the panelist. Also, if I was able to add another panelist which had an opposite view point of the other panelist, a goal I would set is to see if the other panel members can get them to switch to their view point. As you read this quote below I would like for you to think about times when you had something to say but chose to remain silent. How did it make you feel? Did the situation or anything change? Then I would like for you think about the times that you did not remain silent and let your voice be heard. How did you feel? Did the situation change or remained the same? Quote: "Silence is the oxygen of racism and bigotry. Silence allows the dominant assumptions about the inferiority of the poor, women, and person of color to remain unchallenged and so is the case of lesbian and gay families. This work requires that teachers be positioned vulnerably -as teachers and learners, as full participants of the classroom community."-Bentley and Souto-Manning |
